Overview: A space comedy version of Papers, Please: you are a space customs agent.
20260622:
Prior to playing the game, I watched the trailer. It looks like a parody or clone of Papers, Please. As it turns out, it is basically a Papers, Please clone infused with comedy.
Steam Game Time: 24 minutes
First Impressions:
The game progresses similarly to Papers, Please. With each day, the game adds more items to check. At first, the player is just expected to check the person matches the image on file. Next they need to also check VISA details. And so on. However, the checking is simpler than Papers, Please in that it doesn't require cross-document look-ups or memorization (e.g., in Papers, Please, it may be the person's country doesn't match the symbol of the stamp for that country). In addition, another difference is that each day in Papers, Please had a time limit and players were encouraged to get through as many visitors as possible. With XenoFeels, there are a fixed number of visitors and the player can take time verifying all the information aligns.
In any case, the simpler gameplay is appreciated, especially since I'd say the highlight of the game is not the game mechanic (which is a clone) but the theme, humor, and various pop culture references. Parodies of famous characters make their way into the game, including parodies of the following characters: Darth Vader (Star Wars), Spock (Star Trek), and Marvin (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). Note that the humor in the game dominantly involves sexual innuendos. However, the developers have expressed they wish to maintain a 16+ game rating (i.e., the game won't have any nudity).
I would have played more of the demo, but the work day was starting soon.
Demo Rating: 4.8 out of 5
The Steam store page does not have an AI Generated Content Disclosure section! (implying the developer(s) did not use AI to generate content for the game)
20260622:
Taking a short break and playing until the end of the demo, I would say my rating stays the same. By the end of the demo, the player is also tasked with checking if the car has any modifications, which begins to cross into potentially tedious and/or difficult.
Steam Game Time: 42 minutes (cumulative game time) / 18 minutes (session game time)
XenoFeels (PC) (Demo)
