I gave the game another try on my computer with the Azeron and Mouse. I rebinded some keys. I was able to switch from minus to plus but not back to minus. I learned it's possible to use the scroll button but that wasn't so satisfying.

As an aside, the game doesn't use WASD as default for movement. I don't know why. Instead it binds "left arrow" to left and "down arrow" to down.

Giving the game one final try, I tried to use regular keyboard and mouse with WASD binding. It was better but the difficulty curve was unsatisfying. The numbers run at you after being hit leaving for no counterplay. I guess the game just expects you to use mostly minus as an attack? In any case, the game's premise seemed promising but the result was not fun to play.
