Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold (PC) (2013)

-- The development of Episode 2 and Episode 3 have been cancelled. --

Overview:
You play as Fester Mudd and upon receiving a letter from your brother about some gold you set off on an adventure. Gameplay is delivered in classic point-and-click adventure style where the player clicks on commands and objects in order to solve puzzles which progress the story.

"Move" the ladder. + "Pick Up" the empty jar.

20151210 AM Hours:
Today I played a little bit of Fester Mudd and I had mixed feelings about it. One thing I liked was the western theme - who doesn't like cowboys, saloons, and the wild wild west? However, the game itself felt a bit slow-paced and I'm not sure how much of that was due to the old point-and-click adventure interface and how much of that was due to other factors, such as plot or motivation.

With that being said, I will continue the game tomorrow.

Steam: 19 minutes

I tried to "Use" rope, but the in-game character humorously said, "Ummm, no, I'm not going to hang myself."

20151211 AM Hours:
Late at night after finishing up some work I played a little bit more of Fester Mudd and felt like there was an excessive amount of waiting for the story to be told through events/dialogue. One extreme example was a non-interactive sequence with six to ten frames which lasted one minute and fifteen seconds. Of those six to ten frames, two to three frames lasted an entire minute!

Steam: 47 minutes (total game time)

Waiting...

20151212 AM Hours:
Giving the game one last try, I played for about twenty minutes before falling asleep and waking up about four hours later. While I was already sleepy, some games would have easily kept me awake for another hour.

Steam: 5.1 hours logged, 1.1 hours adjusted (total game time)

Still waiting...

Thoughts:
Pros:
+ Funny
+ Pretty decent music

Neutral:
~ A game in the style of classic point-and-click adventures

Cons:
- Can be slow-paced at times.
- I'm not sure where the story leaves off upon finishing this episode, but apparently the story won't be completed

I know I need a copy of the newspaper, but I don't know how to get one.

Recommendation:
Since I'm not sure I would even spend the time to finish the game, I could not recommend it. In particular, I would imagine most players that want to experience a point-and-click adventure game of this style, would prefer to play the classics of the era.
