I have spent most of my time in this game playing The Typing of the Dead, but also spent a little time repeatedly playing the first level of The House of the Dead: Overkill. Steam Achievements lay out the following progression with respect to the main story:
20140313 2219 Papa's Palace of Pain
20140313 2237 Naked Terror
20140313 2257 Ballistic Trauma
20140314 1341 Carny
20140314 1402 Creeping Flesh
20140314 1420 Pap's Palace of Pain (House of the Dead)
20140501 2251 Scream Train
20140501 2314 The Fetid Waters

Boss: Screamer

20180210:
I haven't played this game in a while and decided to give it a spin. Unfortunately, the game ran and was working fine until I tried to change a graphics setting (I was trying to play on my ASUS ROG) and it wouldn't even load after the required restart. Troubleshooting, I went online and eventually fixed the problem by going into Nvidia panel: 3d settings > manage 3d settings > integrated graphics for Typing of the Dead: Overkill.

In any case, I played various levels and also finished the main story. The ending was anticlimatic.

Steam Game Time: 7.4 hours total

Boss: Nigel & Sebastian

20180219:
Prior to posting this entry, I decided to play a little bit more of this game.

Tip: I learned today that the player can press backspace to escape the current word. Progression will be lost, but sometimes this is helpful to fend against higher priority targets like a flying object or a closer undead.

Thoughts:
Pros:
+ Hilarious characters/story
+ The House of the Dead: Overkill is included

Isaac Washington Jr. (left) and G (right).

Neutral:
~ Not a game to learn typing on. More of a game to improve or test typing skills in a fun setting. Note, however, that getting a high score is dependent on knowing which enemies should be targeted first (otherwise a combo could be lost regardless of the ability to type quickly).
~ Language and/or story is inappropriate for younger persons.
Con:
- Some elements of the original game don't translate well to the typing version. In particular, the boss fights (with no time constraints) do not feel difficult (Agent difficulty).

Summary:
I can type somewhere between 70 and 80 words per minute and find typing games to be a fun challenge and form of entertainment. It follows that I enjoyed playing The Typing of the Dead: Overkill.

References older SEGA arcade games Ghost Squad (2004), Thunder Blade (1987), and Space Harrier (1985).

Furthermore, the game's story was entertaining to watch (though may be inappropriate for children). In short, I would highly recommend the game to other fans of typing games.

Remark: The game might also appeal to fans of on-rails shooters since it includes The House of the Dead: Overkill, but playing with a mouse is less challenging than playing with a light gun / Wiimote.
