Overview: You're a fish and your goal is to cut off a target amount of (green) space on every level. Each time you start a path from your boundary and end a path to your boundary, you divide the remaining (blue) space in two. The piece that accounts for less than half of that space becomes green and you continue until you reach the target amount.
But there's a catch! Watch out for enemies bouncing around, because any that hit your line before its complete will reduce your lives by one. Run out of lives and you'll have to start the level over!

I played a little bit of LightFish today. Admittedly the game was a bit strange and difficult at first, but I began to get the hang of it.
While easy to just sort of play and have fun, LightFish can be challenging in terms of getting a high score. Getting a good high score can take a combination of planning and luck.
Unfortunately, the game has a terrible interface and lacks a restart feature. Every time I don't get a good time, I have to either return to the menu screen and backtrack to the level or purposely die.
Thus, while there is some fun to be had with the game, I think its not as fun as some other puzzle games out there. In particular, I recently played a puzzle game called LYNE which was a lot more fun.

I went back to the game today and improved my score on some of the levels out of the first chapter (Shallow Waters). My goal was to set myself on the leaderboards for each of them within the hundreds.

Gameplay Log:
No save file. Started over from the beginning. Focused on not replaying any levels (not trying to go for three stars).
Ben wanted to play so I loaded the game up on the laptop. I was surprised to see all my old scores were populated. I'll have to load that save file!
Played some more, starting from where I was, but with the scores from my previous save loaded and one of the scores updated to reflect a better score obtained prior to loading the save file.
Steam Game Time: 3.4 hours (cumulative game time) / 0.8 hours (session game time)
20251027:
Gameplay Log:
Completed Normal mode with all the stars in all the levels
Completed Time Trial mode with all the stars in all the levels
Had to look up Unfrozen achievement in the forums. The achievement almost seems like the enemy should be in the ice block, when in fact the Lightfish should be in the ice block when killing an enemy. Furthermore, the ice block cannot be destroyed in the process. Note that the crab counts, so when I finally did it, the dependable setup is to have two slivers of the border inside the ice block. When the crab is between the two slivers, close the slivers. Thus the player character is in the ice, and the crab dies (doesn't have to be in the ice). Don't have to wait for a random enemy to enter the box.
Overall, while the game has unfriendly UI (level selection always goes back to the very last level, can't reset a level from pause, and poor leaderboard functionality), the game itself was decent. I'll give it 3.8 out of 5.
Steam Game Time: 6.6 hours (cumulative game time) / 3.2 hours (session game time)
