20141016:
On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One contains a good amount of humor. In addition, while not breathtakingly amazing, the graphics are also good. Unfortunately, while the dialogue and graphics are good, the main game mechanics were slow and negatively difficult.

"Their carnal appetite for fresh fruit drives them to tiny acts of vulgarity."

As such, compared to most other RPGs I've played, this game was a little boring. Fortunately, it's far from being a bad RPG, and I hope I don't ever play a game that's worst than the worst RPG I've ever played: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings (GBA) (2002).

Getting back to the gameplay, the fighting system is an active time battle system with quick-time events.

Victory!

As far as RPGs with quick-time events go, I'd much prefer Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, and Costume Quest. As alluded above, the quick-time event system in this game feels difficult. For example, the player can press the defend button when an enemy attacks to reduce the amount of damage received. However, the event window is unclear and can feel frustrating to master.

Gabriel, Pamela, and Tycho talk with Tycho's niece.

Compared to the quick-time events, the active time portion of the battle system was more bearable and in fact I think it opens a little room for strategy. However, I'm still turned away from the experience as a whole.

With that being said, I think there were moments that would have me coming back for more eventually, just not any time soon.
